CBD is illegal in Burkina Faso. Law No. 017-99/AN treats cannabidiol derivatives as stupefiants without a THC threshold that would exempt CBD products. The Agence Nationale de Regulation Pharmaceutique (ANRP), established to harmonise pharmaceutical regulation under the West African Health Organization framework, has not issued a marketing authorisation for any CBD product.
Pharmacies in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso do not stock CBD oils, tinctures, capsules, or topicals. Travelers carrying CBD products through Thomas Sankara International Airport risk seizure and prosecution under the 1999 narcotics law, regardless of the product's status in the country of origin. There is no industrial hemp-derived CBD exemption.
