Automate Compliance TodayThe Cannabis Act (S.C. 2018, c. 16) lets adults buy viable cannabis seeds from provincially or territorially licensed retailers, possess the public equivalent of 30 grams — one seed being deemed equivalent to one gram, i.e. 30 seeds — and gift within that limit. Up to four plants may be grown per household, except where Quebec and Manitoba restrict home cultivation. Industrial hemp requires a licence under the Industrial Hemp Regulations (SOR/2018-145), and commercial growers must plant pedigreed seed of cultivars on Health Canada's annual List of Approved Cultivars.
