CBD is legal in the Czech Republic and widely sold as a wellness product, cosmetic, or food supplement provided it complies with Act No. 167/1998 Coll. and EU Novel Food rules. The statutory THC threshold for non-controlled cannabis products is 1.0% — among the highest in the EU — allowing a broad range of hemp-derived CBD oils, e-liquids, and topicals to be sold lawfully when total THC remains below this limit.
The State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL) regulates medicinal CBD products, while the Ministry of Agriculture and the Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority oversee food and cosmetic compliance. Following EU guidance, ingestible CBD products are technically subject to Novel Food authorisation, and enforcement against unauthorised ingestible CBD has intensified. Topicals and cosmetics with low-THC CBD remain freely available in pharmacies and specialist retailers.
