Recreational marijuana is illegal in Grenada. The Drug Abuse (Prevention and Control) Act, Chapter 89 of the Laws of Grenada, classifies cannabis as a controlled drug, and possession, cultivation, and supply are criminal offenses prosecuted in the Magistrate's Court at St. George's.
Possession of any quantity for personal use can produce a fine of up to EC$5,000 or imprisonment up to 5 years on summary conviction; trafficking and possession with intent to supply carry up to 30 years and fines of EC$200,000 on indictment. The Royal Grenada Police Force Drug Squad and the Customs and Excise Division at Maurice Bishop International Airport conduct routine searches of arrivals from Trinidad, St. Vincent, and the United States. A 2022 government-appointed Cannabis Commission recommended decriminalization of 14 grams, but as of 2026 no amendment to Chapter 89 has been gazetted and the Drug Control Secretariat continues to enforce existing penalties.
