CBD is illegal in Mauritius for general retail. Section 2 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 2000 defines cannabis to include any preparation containing tetrahydrocannabinol or cannabinol, and the Pharmacy Board has not issued a separate carve-out for cannabidiol.
Imports of CBD oils, tinctures, gummies, and cosmetics through DHL, FedEx, and the Mauritius Post hub at Plaine Lauzun are routinely intercepted by Customs and ADSU. The Pharmacy Act 1983 requires registration of medicinal products with the Pharmacy Board, and no CBD product has been registered. Epidyolex and Sativex are not on the National Essential Medicines List. The Ministry of Health and Wellness has formed a working group to study medical cannabis, but as of 2026 no enabling regulation has been gazetted.
