Recreational marijuana is illegal in the Solomon Islands. Cannabis is a prohibited substance under the Dangerous Drugs Act, Cap. 98, administered by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Drug Enforcement Unit.
The Dangerous Drugs Act criminalizes possession, use, cultivation, supply, and trafficking. Penalties include fines and imprisonment, with trafficking sentences up to life imprisonment under amendments coordinated through the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police regional drug enforcement framework. Honiara International Airport (Henderson Field) customs screens passengers from Brisbane, Port Moresby, and Nadi. There is no medical cannabis framework, and customary or religious carve-outs are not recognized under the Act.
