The Cayman Islands Misuse of Drugs Act (originally Law 13 of 1973, current revision) makes possession, supply, cultivation and importation of cannabis criminal offences, and its definition covers the plant of the genus Cannabis and its parts without a seed exemption. There is no hemp or CBD carve-out: health officials confirmed in 2023-2024 that even trace-cannabinoid hemp products are banned, and hemp goods were pulled from shelves. The only lawful channel is prescription cannabis extracts and tinctures under the 2016 medical amendment; personal cultivation remains prohibited, so viable seed has no legal use. Customs and Border Control applies a zero-tolerance policy to cannabis material at the border.
