CBD has no separate legal status in Bolivia. Ley 1008 de 1988 treats cannabis derivatives as controlled substances without distinguishing between THC and non-psychoactive cannabinoids. The Agencia Estatal de Medicamentos y Tecnologias en Salud (AGEMED), which sits under the Ministerio de Salud y Deportes, has not registered any CBD pharmaceutical, and no implementing regulation has carved out hemp-derived isolate.
Imports of CBD oils, gummies, and cosmetic products are blocked by Aduana Nacional customs and treated as controlled-substance smuggling. Personal-use shipments via courier are routinely seized. Pharmacies do not stock Sativex, Epidiolex, or any other cannabinoid medicine. Families seeking CBD therapy for refractory epilepsy typically travel to neighboring Argentina, Chile, or Uruguay, where regulated frameworks exist.
