Possession of 14 grams or more triggers mandatory rehabilitation followed by sentencing up to 25 years or life imprisonment under Sections 122 and 134. Quantities below the user threshold can still produce 5-year sentences plus court-ordered treatment at the Himmafushi rehabilitation island. Trafficking carries life imprisonment, and Maldives Customs Service officers screen all arrivals at Velána International Airport (Mále) with K-9 units; resort transfers via Trans Maldivian Airways do not bypass customs.
