Industrial hemp cultivation is authorised in French Guiana under the same framework that governs metropolitan France. The arrete du 30 decembre 2021 permits cultivation of cannabis sativa L. varieties listed in the EU Common Catalogue of Varieties of Agricultural Plant Species, with a 0.3% delta-9-THC field limit aligned to EU Regulation 2021/2115.
FranceAgriMer oversees variety control and seed certification, and the Direction de l'alimentation, de l'agriculture et de la foret (DAAF) Guyane administers permits on the ground. The territory's equatorial climate has not produced large-scale hemp acreage, and Cooperative des Producteurs de Chanvre has no chapter in Cayenne. Hemp fibre, seed, and finished CBD goods may circulate under EU single-market rules subject to the Novel Food regime.
