Is Weed Legal in Marshall Islands?

Recreational marijuana is illegal in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Title 41 of the Marshall Islands Revised Code, the Controlled Substances Act, schedules cannabis as a controlled drug, and the Marshall Islands Police Department enforces narcotics offenses across the Ratak and Ralik atoll chains.

Possession, cultivation, sale, and importation are criminal offenses. Penalties under Title 41 include fines and imprisonment, with aggravated trafficking offenses carrying longer terms. The Compact of Free Association with the United States influences enforcement cooperation, particularly via the Federal Bureau of Investigation and US Drug Enforcement Administration liaison work, but Marshallese law applies domestically. Enforcement focuses on Amata Kabua International Airport in Majuro and Bucholz Army Airfield-Kwajalein, where US military police also operate. No medical cannabis or industrial hemp legislation has been enacted.
