Is marijuana legal in the Bahamas?
No, cannabis is still illegal in The Bahamas in practice, even though Parliament passed a landmark reform law in 2024.
Is CBD legal in the Bahamas?
CBD has no clean legal home in The Bahamas. The Cannabis Act, 2024 regulates cannabis with THC above 0.3% and routes medical access through licensed dispensaries under the Cannabis Authority, but it did not create a stand-alone category for CBD products or for hemp-derived cannabidiol.
Is hemp legal in the Bahamas?
Industrial hemp has no separate legal framework in The Bahamas. The Cannabis Act, 2024 expressly does not apply to hemp, and the country has not enacted a parallel hemp statute.
Can you travel to the Bahamas with cannabis or CBD?
Import and export of cannabis are criminal offences under the Dangerous Drugs Act, enforced at Lynden Pindling International Airport and the Nassau cruise port, where visitors are regularly charged. Commercial import and export of CBD products fall under the cannabis licensing regime administered by the Bahamas Cannabis Authority.

The Cannabis Act, 2024 and Cannabis Regulations, 2024 legalize medical, scientific and religious cannabis and create cultivation, nursery and import licences that would cover seeds and seedlings sourced from lawful jurisdictions. Possession up to 30 grams is subject to a fixed $250 penalty rather than criminal prosecution. As of mid-2026 the Bahamas Cannabis Authority has not opened its licensing portal, so there is still no operating lawful channel to buy or sell viable seeds, and hemp-specific seed rules remain untested.
