Is Weed Legal in Bahrain?

Recreational marijuana is illegal in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Cannabis is treated as a Schedule I narcotic under Law No. 15 of 2007 on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, which the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission (LLOC) maintains as the controlling statute.

Possession, use, cultivation, manufacture, transfer, import, and export are all criminal offenses. Penalties under Law 15/2007 escalate sharply: simple possession carries imprisonment and fines, while trafficking, supply to minors, or organized smuggling can trigger life imprisonment or the death penalty, plus fines up to BD 50,000. Repeat offenders, public officials, and anyone working with foreign trafficking networks face the harshest tier. The Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security enforces narcotics offenses alongside Bahrain Customs Affairs at Bahrain International Airport and the King Fahd Causeway.
