Cannabis & Hemp Overview

Industrial hemp is illegal in Grenada. Chapter 89 does not establish a THC threshold separating hemp from psychoactive cannabis, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, and Forestry has not issued cultivation licenses despite recommendations from the 2022 Cannabis Commission.

Farmers in St. David and St. Andrew parishes have lobbied for a fiber and seed program modeled on St. Vincent's Medicinal Cannabis Industry Act, but no equivalent statute has reached Parliament. Imported hemp seed snacks, hemp-protein powder, and hemp-based cosmetics circulate informally through tourist channels and are technically subject to seizure by Customs, although enforcement against finished food products is inconsistent. Grenada is a CARICOM member and participates in the Regional Commission on Marijuana follow-up discussions, but unilateral hemp authorization has not occurred.
