Is marijuana legal in Brunei?
Recreational marijuana is illegal in Brunei Darussalam. Cannabis is a Class A controlled drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27, administered by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of Brunei.
Is CBD legal in Brunei?
CBD is illegal in Brunei. The Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27, controls cannabis and its derivatives without a cannabidiol exemption, and the Ministry of Health's Department of Pharmaceutical Services has not registered any CBD-containing medicine, including Epidyolex.
Is hemp legal in Brunei?
Industrial hemp is illegal in Brunei. The Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27, controls the entire Cannabis sativa L. plant without a low-THC carve-out, and no commercial hemp licensing scheme exists under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

Brunei's Misuse of Drugs Act (Chapter 27) imposes some of the world's harshest cannabis penalties: trafficking more than 500 grams carries a mandatory death sentence (under moratorium since 1957), while cultivation is punishable by up to 20 years' imprisonment plus caning. Cannabis is defined broadly on the Singapore model, leaving viable seeds with no lawful channel, and authorities have seized plants and seeds in enforcement operations. No hemp or medical cannabis exemption of any kind exists.
