Dutchie vs Flowhub vs Treez is a choice between three dispensary POS platforms aimed at different buyers. Dutchie fits operators who want a POS, ecommerce, a branded app, kiosks and a cultivation product from one vendor and who report to Metrc, BioTrack or Washington's CCRS. Flowhub fits retailers in Metrc and BioTrack states that want a cost estimate before a sales call, and Treez fits Metrc-state retailers that want POS, cashless payments and analytics on one plan priced by store count.

This comparison covers product scope, state traceability support, payments, ecommerce, pricing models and corporate history. Facts are as each company states them on its website, help center and press releases as of October 2026, and vendor claims are attributed. Dutchie: dispensary POS with ecommerce, payments and a cultivation product

Dutchie launched in Bend, Oregon, in 2017 with three local dispensaries, according to its about page. As of October 2026 it says it powers more than 6,500 dispensaries across North America and has processed more than $100 billion in transactions. Its retail line covers point of sale, E-Commerce and E-Commerce Pro, a branded iOS and Android app published under the retailer's name, in-store kiosks, loyalty and marketing, delivery and Pay by Bank. It is the only one of the three that also sells a cultivation and manufacturing product. In June 2026 it added Consumer AI tools, including Voice AI, which Dutchie describes as an AI phone receptionist that helps customers place orders.

Dutchie's compliance page cites traceability reporting for Metrc, BioTrack and "state-specific systems like CCRS," real-time purchase limit enforcement by customer type, and ID verification at checkout. It says it serves 40+ state markets, and its FAQ refers to the state-run systems in Vermont and Iowa. Dutchie does not publish prices; its get-started page offers a free live demo.

In March 2021 Dutchie raised a $200 million Series C led by Tiger Global and acquired the Greenbits and LeafLogix POS companies, then raised a $350 million Series D led by D1 Capital Partners that October. Dutchie POS launched in August 2022, built on those acquisitions, and Dutchie now says both legacy products are "no longer available." In December 2022 the board named former Toast CFO Tim Barash chairman and CEO, and co-founders Ross and Zach Lipson left. In an August 2025 post, Dutchie said it will support legacy Dutchie Plus ecommerce customers through the end of 2026. See Dutchie’s profile in our software directory for its listed integrations and states.

Flowhub: retail POS with a public pricing calculator

Flowhub was founded in Denver in 2015 by CEO Kyle Sherman, according to its about page, and describes itself as the first Metrc integrator. Its Maui point of sale is cloud-based and, per Flowhub's POS page, runs on Mac and Windows desktops, laptops and tablets for "one store or 100." Companion apps cover the sales floor: Greet scans IDs into the check-in queue and Stash handles inventory audits and transfers. The Nug Ultra handheld pairs an iPhone with a Honeywell scanning sled. Flowhub Ecommerce, launched in July 2025, is built into the POS, and Flowhub says prices and inventory update from POS data and purchase limits apply online.

For compliance, Flowhub cites integrations with Metrc and BioTrack, built-in purchase limits and age verification, and daily sales reporting in real time or at end of day. Its homepage lists 32 states plus Washington, D.C., where it says it powers cannabis sales. Washington State is not on that list as of October 2026.

Flowhub is the only one of the three that shows a pricing calculator. It asks for your number of locations and Nug scanners, then estimates a monthly POS fee, a monthly Nug service fee, a refundable Nug hardware deposit and a one-time onboarding fee. Billing is monthly on an annual agreement, or prepaid annually at a 10% discount. The page says estimates are "for discussion purposes only and are not a binding agreement."

Flowhub's homepage says it processes more than $4 billion in sales a year, and its July 2025 ecommerce release said it served more than 1,000 dispensaries. It raised a $23 million Series A in 2019 and $19 million in October 2021, bringing total capital raised to nearly $50 million. See Flowhub’s profile in our software directory for its partner integrations and pricing notes.

Treez: one plan covering POS, payments and analytics

Treez was founded by cannabis retailers in 2016 and is led by founder and CEO John Yang, according to its about page; an August 2025 release places its headquarters in San Francisco. SellTreez POS sits at the center of a product set that includes TreezPay cashless payments, Treez Ecommerce, Treez Loyalty and Retail Analytics. Treez's homepage says it processes more than $4 billion in transactions a year, while its August 2025 loyalty release described more than $5 billion in annualized transactions. Its ecommerce menu runs on the dispensary's own website rather than in an iFrame, and Treez Loyalty, launched in August 2025, stores loyalty cards in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.

Pricing is a single plan. Treez's pricing page says "Every Treez plan includes everything we have to offer," including POS with unlimited registers, unlimited employees and API access, priced around store count. No prices are listed.

For compliance, Treez says SellTreez integrates directly with "state compliance tracking systems like Metrc" and can automate Metrc reports and manifests through a bidirectional integration. Its help center covers purchase limit configuration, ID scanning in the customer queue and an iPad retail app. Treez's product pages do not name BioTrack, but its help center has a BioTrack section covering sales reporting to BioTrack; we found no mention of CCRS. Its about page lists 12 states served in 2023, from Arizona and California to Nevada and New Jersey, and Treez announced a New York launch in July 2024. Its about page also lists Texas and Maryland among markets it entered in 2025.

Treez raised a $51 million Series C in April 2022 with Long Ridge Equity Partners, Kayne Partners and Synchrony as new investors. It announced an agreement to buy Swifter, a Y Combinator-backed payments startup, in November 2022 (its about page lists the acquisition under 2023), and its about page cites a December 2024 acquisition of Gap Commerce. Treez also markets Team Winston, an AI back-office tool open to dispensaries on any POS. See Treez’s profile in our software directory for its listed integrations.

Key differences for compliance teams

Which state traceability systems each vendor names

Metrc is the system of record in most regulated states, but not all. As of October 2026, BioTrack runs the state systems in states including Arkansas, Connecticut, Hawaii and North Dakota, New Mexico replaced BioTrack in September 2026 with NMS2S, a state system built by Real Time Solutions, Washington uses CCRS, and Iowa and Vermont run their own systems. On the pages we reviewed, only Dutchie names CCRS and the Iowa and Vermont systems. Flowhub names Metrc and BioTrack. Treez names Metrc on its product pages, and its help center includes BioTrack reporting articles. In Metrc states, an integrator uses a vendor API key issued after it passes Metrc's validation for that state, paired with your licensee user key, so ask each vendor to confirm its validated states in writing. Our Metrc vs BioTrack comparison explains how the two systems differ, and New York operators should work through our New York Metrc migration readiness checklist.

Purchase limits and ID checks

All three say they enforce purchase limits. Dutchie enforces limits by customer type, medical or adult-use. Flowhub says limits apply in Maui and in Flowhub Ecommerce orders. Treez's help center covers limit configuration, including packages accepted from Metrc that wrongly count against a customer's limit. Test your state's rules, including medical allotments, with your own products during the demo.

Payments and card-network rules

Dutchie's Pay by Bank is powered by Plaid, and Dutchie says it settles the next business day. Flowhub Pay markets tap, swipe and chip debit with a convenience fee paid by the customer and deposits within two business days; Flowhub also lists Pay by Bank (ACH) and names Aeropay, which announced an ACH partnership with Flowhub in 2022, as a partner. TreezPay lets a retailer apply to multiple payment providers at once and offers in-store ACH, where the shopper scans a QR code on the customer-facing display. Card-network rules sit behind any debit option. Mastercard told institutions in July 2023 to stop cannabis purchases on its debit cards, Visa told acquirers in a memo dated December 2, 2021 that "cashless ATM" coding violates its rules, and a GAO report publicly released September 8, 2026 (GAO-26-107498) says accepting customer payments is difficult largely because two major card companies prohibit cannabis purchases. We make no finding on any vendor's payment program. Ask which bank, processor and card network carry each payment type. Our cannabis payments software guide and our article on PCI DSS 4.0.1 for cannabis ecommerce cover the follow-up questions.

Data access, contract terms and outages

Treez includes API access in its single plan, Flowhub advertises an open API with 100+ integrations, and Dutchie says it offers 100+ full integrations. None publishes data export terms on the pages we reviewed, and only Flowhub's pricing page states a contract structure (an annual agreement). Get the export format, any fee and the termination notice period in writing. Your POS history is what you reconcile against the state system each month (see our month-end Metrc reconciliation controls), and you need a plan for vendor downtime, which our seed-to-sale outage playbook covers.

Loyalty texting

All three sell loyalty or marketing tools. As of October 2026, carrier policies prohibit cannabis sales content on 10DLC, toll-free and short code text routes regardless of state legality. Ask how each loyalty module sends messages; our Alpine IQ vs Springbig comparison covers the rules.

How to choose

No single dispensary POS fits every operator. Shortlist by your license states, the scope you need from one vendor and how you want to buy.

  • Single store in a Metrc state that wants a cost estimate first: Flowhub publishes a calculator based on locations and Nug scanners. Compare it against quotes from Dutchie and Treez.
  • Washington, Iowa or Vermont license: Dutchie names CCRS and the Iowa and Vermont systems. Flowhub and Treez do not on the pages we reviewed, so confirm support before a Dutchie vs Treez or Dutchie vs Flowhub demo.
  • Arkansas, Connecticut or Hawaii license: Dutchie and Flowhub both name BioTrack, the state system in those markets, on their product pages. Treez's help center covers BioTrack reporting, but Treez does not list these states among its markets. Confirm each vendor's live integration for your state.
  • Vertically integrated operator: Dutchie sells a cultivation and manufacturing product alongside its POS. With Flowhub or Treez, plan on a separate seed-to-sale or ERP system for grows and kitchens.
  • Retailer that wants POS, payments and analytics on one plan: Treez sells one plan priced around store count. Its pricing page does not say whether Treez Ecommerce or Treez Loyalty is included, so ask. In a Flowhub vs Treez decision, that is the main structural difference from Flowhub's per-location and per-scanner estimate.
  • Retailer that wants a branded app or kiosks: Dutchie lists a branded iOS and Android app and kiosks; Flowhub lists a self-serve kiosk. Our dispensary ecommerce and menu software guide covers other options.
  • Current Greenbits, LeafLogix or Dutchie Plus user: Dutchie says Greenbits and LeafLogix are no longer available and Dutchie Plus support runs through the end of 2026. Use the required move to compare vendors.
  • Shortlisting beyond these three: our Cova vs BLAZE vs Meadow vs POSaBIT comparison covers four more POS vendors, and our Headset vs BDSA comparison covers market data tools that read POS sales. Compare the Dutchie, Flowhub and Treez directory profiles side by side.

Questions to ask in a demo

  1. Do you hold a validated Metrc vendor API key, or a live BioTrack or CCRS integration, in each state where we hold a license? Will you confirm it in writing?
  2. When the state system is unavailable, can the register keep selling, and how are queued sales reported once it is back?
  3. How are purchase limits calculated for medical and adult-use customers, and in which states do you check limits live against the state system?
  4. Which bank, processor and card network carry each payment method you offer, and what fees do shoppers and the store each pay?
  5. What is our total first-year cost for our store count, including hardware, onboarding, payment fees and any price increase at renewal?
  6. What is the contract term, and how much notice do we need to give to leave?
  7. In what format can we export full sales, inventory and customer history, and is there a fee?
  8. How do your loyalty and marketing tools send text messages, given carrier rules on cannabis content?
