Mongolia's Law on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (2002, amended 2017) and Articles 19.6 and 19.7 of the Criminal Code criminalise cannabis cultivation, sale and trafficking, so viable marijuana seeds have no lawful commercial or private channel; larger quantities or commercial intent bring 2 to 8 years' imprisonment. Hemp grows wild across the steppe, and some secondary sources describe separate licensing for low-THC industrial hemp, but no primary licensing framework could be verified, so agricultural hemp seed status is recorded as unclear.
