Is marijuana legal in Greenland?
Recreational marijuana is illegal in Greenland. As an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland applies Danish narcotics law through the Greenland Criminal Code (Kriminallov for Grønland) and the Royal Decree extending Denmark's Act on Euphoriants (Lov om euforiserende stoffer) to the territory, with adaptations administered by the Government of Greenland (Naalakkersuisut).

CBD is illegal in Greenland for general sale. Greenland follows the Danish Medicines Agency (Lægemiddelstyrelsen) classification, which treats CBD products as medicinal under the Medicines Act unless they carry zero THC and meet strict cosmetic or novel-food requirements that Greenlandic retailers have not pursued.
Is hemp legal in Greenland?
Industrial hemp is illegal in Greenland in practice. The Arctic climate makes commercial cultivation effectively impossible, and Greenlandic law does not carve out a hemp licensing pathway equivalent to Denmark's Hampedyrkning scheme administered by the Danish Agricultural Agency (Landbrugsstyrelsen).

Cannabis is fully prohibited in Greenland, with possession, cultivation and distribution punished under the Greenland Criminal Code and the Danish euphoriant substances rules as applied to the territory; cultivation can carry up to six years' imprisonment. In Denmark itself, non-germinated cannabis seeds fall outside the euphoriants schedules, and it could not be verified whether Greenlandic authorities treat viable seeds the same way, so seed sale, purchase and gifting are recorded here as unclear. Any germination or growing is unambiguously criminal, and no industrial hemp regime exists in the territory.
