Amendments to the Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act passed in 2021 decriminalised possession of up to 30 grams of cannabis for private adult use and permit home cultivation of up to four plants per household, with prior minor convictions expunged under companion legislation. Seeds acquired or shared for that personal cultivation are tolerated, but there is no licensed retail, so commercial seed sale remains an offence. A comprehensive Cannabis and Industrial Hemp Bill circulated for public comment in 2025 would license farming, processing and sales, including hemp, but it had not been verified as enacted by mid-2026.
