Is marijuana legal in Algeria?
Cannabis is illegal for recreational and medical use in Algeria. Loi n. 04-18 du 25 decembre 2004 relative a la prevention et a la repression de l'usage et du trafic illicites de stupefiants et de substances psychotropes is the operative statute, supplemented by the Code Penal.
Is CBD legal in Algeria?
CBD has no separate legal status in Algeria. Loi 04-18 of 2004 treats cannabis derivatives as controlled substances without distinguishing between psychoactive and non-psychoactive cannabinoids.
Is hemp legal in Algeria?
Industrial hemp is not legally distinguished from cannabis in Algeria. Loi 04-18 of 2004 defines Cannabis sativa as a controlled species without any THC-content carve-out, so the 0.3 percent or higher hemp thresholds standard in the EU and United States have no Algerian equivalent.
Can you travel to Algeria with cannabis or CBD?

Law No. 04-18 of 25 December 2004 on the prevention and repression of illicit use and trafficking of narcotics bans cannabis in all its forms, and Law 23-05 (May 2023) sharply increased penalties across the production and commercialization chain. Buying or selling cannabis seeds is illegal and seeds may not be posted into the country. No industrial hemp or CBD carve-out exists, and observers report no political movement toward one; the only theoretical exception is ministerial authorization for medical/scientific purposes, which has never produced a program.
