Is marijuana legal in Mali?
Recreational marijuana is illegal in Mali. Law No. 2018-019 of 27 February 2018 on the suppression of illicit trafficking, use and production of drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors replaced earlier 1986 legislation and classifies cannabis as a stupefiant.
Is CBD legal in Mali?
CBD is illegal in Mali. Law No. 2018-019 treats cannabidiol products as derivatives of cannabis sativa and therefore as stupefiants, without a THC-threshold exemption.
Is hemp legal in Mali?
Industrial hemp is illegal in Mali. Law No. 2018-019 does not distinguish between psychoactive cannabis and low-THC hemp, and the Ministere du Developpement Rural has not registered hemp as a permitted crop or established a licensing framework.
Can you travel to Mali with cannabis or CBD?
Import and export of recreational cannabis are prohibited. Personal and commercial import of CBD is not permitted.

Mali criminalises the cultivation, possession and sale of cannabis under Law No. 01-078 of 18 July 2001 on the control of drugs and precursors. The statute contains no carve-out for industrial hemp or for viable seeds sold as collectors' items, so propagative cannabis seed has no legal trade channel. Prohibition traces back to French colonial-era controls and remains enforced, with the country sitting on a major trans-Saharan cannabis resin route.
