Automate Compliance TodayThe Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, Cap 10:10 (Act No. 2 of 1988) schedules cannabis as a narcotic and lists the genus Cannabis as a prohibited plant whose cultivation triggers land forfeiture under s.8; the 2021 Amendment only removed custodial sentences for possession of 30g or less, leaving cultivation and supply penalties intact. The Act does not carve out seeds, and no lawful marijuana seed channel exists. The Industrial Hemp Act 2022 removed sub-0.3% THC hemp from Cap 10:10 and created the Guyana Industrial Hemp Regulatory Authority, whose 3-year cultivation licences require an established seed supply and pre-planting THC testing of seed, but commercial licensing has lagged.
