Is marijuana legal in Senegal?
Recreational marijuana is illegal in Senegal. Law No. 97-18 of 1 December 1997 enacting the Code des Drogues classifies cannabis (locally known as yamba) as a stupefiant, criminalising cultivation, possession, transport, sale, and consumption.
Is CBD legal in Senegal?
CBD is illegal in Senegal. Law No. 97-18 (Code des Drogues) treats cannabidiol derivatives from cannabis sativa as stupefiants without a THC threshold that exempts CBD.
Is hemp legal in Senegal?
Industrial hemp is illegal in Senegal. Law No. 97-18 (Code des Drogues) makes no distinction between psychoactive cannabis and low-THC hemp.
Can you travel to Senegal with cannabis or CBD?

Senegal's Code des drogues (Law No. 97-18 of 1997) lists cannabis among high-risk drugs and punishes cultivation, production and transformation with five to ten years' imprisonment plus fines pegged to the value of seized product (art. 95). Viable seeds have no separate legal status and there is no hemp exemption or licensing pathway. Periodic public debate about decriminalisation has not produced any reform.
